EXPLORE ACRYLIC PAINTING

$40 per week

EXPLORE acrylic painting with Janie Snider, starting Saturday, Feb. 8th. ALL levels. Beginners welcome. Four weeks of instruction (take a couple or all four classes). You'll learn about composition, when and how to add texture, how color influences mood and atmosphere, and what tools and techniques work best with this medium. This is a gentle learning environment with a stunning view and warm, light-filled interior spaces that set an inspiring tone to create and connect in. Janie not only offers a wealth of painting and teaching experience, she's a gentle human with a Downeast heart who so enjoys interacting with others over art. As always, the emphasis is on having fun, connecting with others and ourselves, and promoting wellness through creative expression. Max 12. Most supplies provided.* â€‹

*Please bring your own canvas (no smaller than 11x14 and no bigger than 12x16 for the first class) or purchase one at The Foggy Bee for $5. You are welcome to bring your own paint, brushes and other tools if you have them.  If you don't, no worries -- The Foggy Bee has enough studio supplies for everyone. DO bring a smock, old shirt or apron to protect your clothing. 

About Janie: Janie Snider is a painter working in watercolor and acrylic. She is a Milbridge native living her childhood dream to be a full-time artist. Janie retired in 2022 after 30 years of teaching art to K-8 students in SAD#37 and Hancock Grammar School. She earned her degree in elementary education from the University of Maine, Machias and state certification in K-12 Visual Arts. Throughout her teaching years her art was done primarily on a commissioned basis. Snider’s art has been displayed in the local scene for various organizations and causes. She finds her inspiration from her connections to the natural world.
